Spent an excellent three day weekend with my wife. We did a lot of relaxing watching tv and reading. It was another long day at work, but I loved it. It was a very productive day !
November 2-5, 1999
Working very late hours. Haven't had much contact with my family or friends other than email. I've posted some pictures of my friends babies. Check them out in the Newlyborns section. John Peters, a top notch programmer, has accepted an offer to work with ImproveMyBusiness.com. I'm very excited to have him working with us. He will make a great addition to our team.

Decided to exercise my right of being extremely lazy today. I watched "The Big Hit" with markie mark and I saw "Twin Dragons" that stared my equal in martial arts, Jackie Chan. Lisa's grandmother had a very bad heart attack this morning. Lisa flew to Spokane to be with her family. I really hope everything works out.

I've been experimenting with different beers to marinate chicken breasts. So far I've narrowed it down to NO beers that make a good soaking fluid. But I'm not giving up. I actually haven't tried a Stout and I think that will be my best bet. The best thing I've found so far is Vermouth. Craig, my good friend, showed me that one. It really sweetens the breast up. And who wouldn't like a nice sweet breast ?? I had a nice relaxing weekend. Today I found the best bathroom cleaner available to the general public. It's Soft Scub Mildew Remover. It requires absolutely no sponge at all. Just spray on and wash off. Amazing stuff !!

I again updated my newlyborns page. Not too much to report today. I had two soagy tuna fish sandwiches for lunch. There's really something to be said about getting a fresh sandwich from a deli for lunch instead of bringing one in. Are you with me on that one ? My new favorite deli is Mel's because it's on the first floor of my building ... I place more weight on convenience then I do on actual quality. Sad, huh ?

With a bunch of the people I work with, I went to Jillian's Pool hall. I hadn't been there in years. I cannot believe how much that place has changed. I use to go there all the time to play pool and drink adult beverages .... cranberry juice is for adults, right ?

I went to lunch with a couple of friends from my prior place of employment. Unfortunately I'm so busy with my new job that I don't get to see them as often as I'd like to. It's Friday and I usually meet them for a couple of drinks after work, but my wife is going to be here for the weekend. I desparately need to and clean up my apartment before she gets here.

Got my haircut today and Lisa is calling me sir and is saluting me. I guess it is a little short on the sides. I had a great leg workout today at Ironworks gym. I'm gearing up for when the slopes are open. I am crossing fingers on both hands for the slopes to be open on Thanksgiving weekend.

I'm going to say this once ... Anthony's Homeport in Kirkland on the water is by far the best place to go for brunch. Well, maybe not the best, but it sure is good. I spent big cashola on clothes today. Went to Bellevue Square and Redmond Town Center and dropped a lot of coin. Now I'm really going to have to fight all the chicks off because of my new digs.

So this morning I forget my lunch at home. I spend all the time making it last night, stick it in the refridgerator and totally forget it this morning. I'm telling you, bringing a lunch into work is not all it's cracked up to be. I'm in the school of thought that, yes going out for lunch may be a little more expensive, but the time you save and the gain in better tasting food is well worth it. Plus, I always get sandwiches with the full garden on it. If I make sandwiches at home, it's lucky to have lettuce on it. So eating out is much better for me .... right ? From this day forth, Brett Melton goes out to lunch everyday. And so it is written.

Walked over to Casa D's for lunch today with a bunch of the guys I work with. I'm not sure, but I think the burritos are about the size of my thigh. I just figured out how to set the POP3 server in Outlook Express for my compuserve account. Now I can check any email to my home address while I'm at work. You don't seem as excited as I am. I think we're really making progress at work now. I am feeling pretty good about Enterprise Java Beans and how the whole life cycle works for an internet e-commerce site. It's really cool stuff. I have never been this excited about working in the computing industry before ... well, except for the time when I realized that the CDROM device wasn't really a cup holder.

When was the last time you had microwave popcorn ? If someone asked me that now, I would say "tonight" 'cause I had a full bad of "light" microwave popcorn all to myself. I even ate the half popped kernels. I went to lunch at this Thai restaurant that was extremely good. I don't think I've ever had Pad Thai that good before. I think I'll have to go back sometime soon and try the Cashew Chicken ... mmmmmm.

Here's my problem: I get invited to two holiday parties for the same evening and only one of them will give me an opportunity to drink large quantities of alcohol .... hold on, I think I just figured out my problem. I saw an article in Men's Health that stated drinking one to two beers a day will reduce a man's chances of heart disease by as much as 40%. I personally feel obligated to maintain good health and will do my part in reducing my chances of heart disease. I take no pleasure, mind you, in drinking these beers ... it's my duty.

If a man takes a bath, does that mean he's gay ? I need answers. My chiropractor tells me to take a hot bath to relax the muscles in my back. I felt like telling him that I'm a happily married man, and I'm not stepping one foot in that bath tub. Is anybody going snowboarding on Thanksgiving weekend ? Back to this bath tub thing, in order for me to comfortably take a bath, I would have to clean out my tub first. Honestly, I might just throw out my back doing that. What the heck is this, a conspiracy or something ? It's 1999 ... who takes a bath anymore ? It's all showers these days.

Put snow flakes on my web page - you likey ? I got down and dirty today and cooked a truly gourmet meal. I tell you, I make a mean hamburger helper. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that stuff isn't served in fine restaurants.
November 22-29, 1999
I've been a slacker and haven't been keeping my page updated. My thanksgiving was pretty good. I didn't hit the slopes at all, but I hope to this coming weekend. I saw the movie "The Bone Collector". The acting was pretty good, the suspense was decent, and the chick is pretty hot ... overall I give it a B+. The WTO is going on this week in Seattle. Personally, I can't wait for all the protesters to crawl back under their rock. Where do these people come from ? ... Ballard ?
November 30, 1999
Okay, that's it. I have no tolerance for protesters. Today I saw protesters blocking quite a few intersections and an ambulance with it's siren and lights on stuck in traffic trying to get through. I just hope that the ambulance was on it's way to one of the protesters and remained stuck. This whole WTO thing is really getting on my nerve. I left work twice today to go watch all those idiots vandalize downtown Seattle. My eyes are still hurting me because the tear gas was in the air. The only cool thing I saw today was the LA Lakers getting off the bus and going into the W hotel. I'm not lying when I say that Shaq O'Neil is one tall fellow. Well, I did learn that if I get off work at 5:00 pm, that I can get a lot done after work. I did a little Christmas shopping, I worked out, I returned a lot of personal emails that were stacking up, I paid some bills, and I had a nice big dinner. I really had no choice. Seattle put into affect a 7:00 pm curfew and I had to leave work. Well, it's almost 10:00pm and my P.J.s are calling me. Remember children, if you see a protester in the street, make sure to run them over.
